Jeanneau 55 Yacht Introduction

Jeanneau made a bold entry into the large luxury yacht market a few years ago with the Jeanneau Yachts line, distinguishing it from their Sun Odyssey cruisers and Sun Fast race boats. Following the success of the Jeanneau 60 and Jeanneau 65, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 has arrived, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation.

In a departure from its larger siblings, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 incorporates a unique and innovative design approach. It combines elements from catamaran cockpit design, the inside-outside sailing positions seen on boats like Amel, and the separate spaces and private access found in Jeanneau’s Sun Loft charter range. This blend of concepts creates a luxurious finish below decks, while the two aft guest cabins enjoy their own companionways, ensuring privacy and convenience.

The forward owner’s suite is a standout feature, with a full-beam cabin, spacious forward heads compartment, and the option for a semi open-plan configuration that integrates the owner’s cabin with the saloon and galley. The guest cabins are equally impressive, offering large double beds, a small sitting area, and their own heads compartments. This thoughtful layout ensures that everyone on board has their own space and comfort.

On deck, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 offers not two, but three distinct areas. The central helm stations are positioned under the cockpit arch, with all lines led to this central control area. Forward of the helm stations is a seating area enclosed by either a folding sprayhood or a permanent doghouse, providing shelter and a chart table for navigation. Aft of the helm stations is a spacious sundeck, equipped with large lounging sun pads or tables and seating on either side.

The hull design features a wide beam that extends all the way aft, complemented by a hard chine that narrows the waterline. Twin rudders provide excellent control, while an arch-mounted mainsheet keeps the cockpit clear and uncluttered. The yacht also offers twin forestays with furling genoa and jib, along with a bowsprit, allowing for various sail options to adapt to changing conditions.

With its versatile configuration, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 is suitable for a range of purposes, from luxury chartering to an owner’s Mediterranean boat. The addition of a fixed dodger makes it equally well-suited for colder climates. This versatility, coupled with its luxurious amenities, makes the Jeanneau Yachts 55 a remarkable choice for discerning sailors seeking both comfort and performance.
